WE’VE BEEN TOLD TO BE POSITIVE.
If you’ve spent any time exploring manifestation, you’ve probably heard some version of this advice:
And if a worried, angry or doubtful thought slips through? Quick. Replace it with a positive one.
It sounds simple enough. The problem is that we’re human. We have difficult days. We get frustrated. We worry. We feel disappointed, overwhelmed, angry and sometimes downright fed up.
So where does that leave manifestation? Does one bad morning cancel everything you’ve been creating? Does feeling anxious mean you’re attracting more anxiety? And do you really need to monitor every thought in your head in case the Universe is taking notes?
I don’t believe you do.

THE PRESSURE TO BE POSITIVE.
One of the biggest problems I have with the idea of constant positive thinking is that it can turn manifestation into another thing we have to get right.
Instead of helping us feel more empowered, we start policing ourselves.

And suddenly, on top of whatever we were already feeling, we’ve added fear and guilt because we think we’re manifesting incorrectly.
That isn’t freedom. And it certainly isn’t what I believe conscious creation is meant to feel like.

A NEGATIVE THOUGHT IS NOT A MANIFESTATION EMERGENCY
Thoughts come and go all day long. Some are helpful. Some are fearful. Some are ridiculous. Some are simply old habits our minds have repeated so many times that they appear automatically.
You do not need to panic every time one of them isn’t positive.
The more useful question is: What is this thought showing me? Perhaps there’s fear underneath it.
Perhaps an old belief has been triggered. Perhaps you’re carrying an emotion that needs to be acknowledged rather than covered with a positive statement. That changes the conversation completely.
Instead of: How quickly can I get rid of this negative thought? we can begin asking: What is happening within me right now?
There is a very big difference between the two.
POSITIVE THINKING AND SUPPRESSION ARE NOT THE SAME THING
There is nothing wrong with positive thinking. I love feeling hopeful. I love gratitude. I love those moments when life feels exciting and possibility seems to be everywhere.
But genuine positivity and forced positivity are not the same thing.
If you’re hurting and immediately tell yourself, I’m fine. Everything is wonderful, the original feeling hasn’t necessarily disappeared. You may simply have put something prettier on top of it.
This is one of the places where I believe traditional manifestation advice can become confusing. We’re encouraged to change the thought without always asking what may be sitting underneath it. And sometimes, what is underneath is the part that actually needs our attention.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO JUMP FROM FEAR TO JOY
Imagine you’re feeling completely overwhelmed. Trying to leap immediately from:
I don’t know how I’m going to cope with this. to: Everything is amazing and my life is wonderful! can feel almost impossible. Your mind knows you don’t believe it. Your body knows you don’t feel it.
So instead of aiming for joy, what if you simply looked for relief? Maybe relief sounds like:
It doesn’t sound particularly dramatic. But it feels believable. And that matters.
In The Wright Way Method, I see relief as an important tipping point. You don’t have to race to the top of an emotional ladder. Sometimes the next gentler thought is enough.
SO, YOU CAN MANIFEST WHEN YOU’RE FEELING NEGATIVE?
Yes.
You are allowed to have emotions.
You are allowed to have doubts.
You are allowed to wake up in a terrible mood without believing you’ve just ordered twelve months of terrible experiences from the Universe.
What matters more, in my view, is becoming aware of what you are carrying and learning how to work with it rather than automatically pushing it away.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do isn’t to hold on.
It’s to gently let go.
It doesn’t sound particularly dramatic. But it feels believable. And that matters.
In The Wright Way Method, I see relief as an important tipping point. You don’t have to race to the top of an emotional ladder. Sometimes the next gentler thought is enough.
Remember …
You don’t need to feel positive every moment to create something beautiful.
Notice what is there.
Allow yourself to be human.
Then look for the next thought that brings a little more relief.
Clear. Release. Create.
CARRY THIS WITH YOU
You don’t have to force positivity.
Be present with what’s true and reach for relief.
Clear. Release. Create.
